Four Indonesian designers debuted their Spring/Summer 2020 collections on September 9th,2019, treating the audience to colorful and culture-filled looks.

The Indonesian Diversity shows are always dedicated to bringing more light to Indonesian designers and expanding the world’s concept of what Indonesia really consists of. To do so, this season they featured four designers: 2Madison Avenue, Ayumi, Julianto, and Yogiswari Prajanti.

2Madison Avenue is led by designer Maggie Hutauruk and was showing for the second time. Her SS20 collection featured both men’s and womenswear looks and had a very retro feel, invoking the 80s with bucket hats, denim, baggy pants, and bright colored mix and matching.

The collection was loud and attention-grabbing. It had big silhouettes and ranged from casual streetwear to sophisticated evening wear.

The looks were all made from traditional Indonesian fabrics and gave us an insight into the colorful culture. It was the perfect collection to bring Indonesian culture into everyday streetwear.

The Ayumi collection by Marina Christyanti was all about elegance and was made for the sophisticated woman. It featured beautifully tailored brocades, shimmery chiffons, silks, feathers, and sequins.

The SS20 collection was iridescent and featured gorgeous blushes, golds, beiges, whites, and olives. Each look was styled with simple silver strap heels, meant to be subtle in order to keep the focus on the clothing pieces.

The collection focused on movement and exuded absolute luxury. It is a collection meant to make anyone feel like a modern royal when wearing them. Amongst our favorite looks was a cream-colored plunging feathered and sequined top paired with soft yellow/eggshell brocade pants with a pearl-encrusted waistband; it absolutely captivated us.

Julianto’s collection was sculptural and featured a lot of movement. From shimmering bead fringe to exaggerated sleeves, the looks all had red carpet quality. Some looks were paired with cool, glitzy glasses.

The looks were romantic and very intricate in details. In addition to the clothing pieces and the glasses, the designer featured pink shimmering knee-length boots and sheer heels with a unique block platform as well as bead-encrusted ear cuffs, all of which completed the looks and made them even more fascinating.

The collection not only featured dresses but also featured a black jumper that was to die for. It had layering and was completely covered in bead fringe; it is the perfect standout piece that any celebrity could dream of wearing.
