Listen to Victoria Monét and Khalid’s New Song ‘Experience’

Victoria Monét and Khalid teamed up to release a new single to “highlight and celebrate Black joy.”

While some artist are postponing releasing projects in solitude over the Black Lives Matter movement, Monét and Khalid hope that their collaboration can provide some positivity during these hard times.

On June 16, both Monét and Khalid released a statement about going back and forth whether they wanted to release their newest song, “Experience” due to the recent events happening around the world. The artists both agreed that music is a form of escapism from troublesome times and that the song feels joyful and celebratory.

“Experience” is the fourth single to be released from Monét’s upcoming album Jaguar. The upbeat track is packed with disco-infused inspired beats.

Monét continued the statement noting that June is both Pride and Black music month. Monét explained that while the struggles of the LGBTQ+ and the Black community are not the same, they do “share the inspiring persistence in the relentless pursuit to be heard and seen.”
