Watch Bad Bunny on YouTube’s ‘Artists Spotlight Stories’
Singer and rapper, Bad Bunny, is the latest to join other artists in the YouTube series about their road to success.
The short documentary explores the road of Bad Bunny’s fame, from the beginning of his career and to the release of his 2020 chart-topping album YHLQMDLG. His second studio album YHLQMDLG ( Yo Hago Lo Que Me Da La Gana) became the highest-charting Spanish album on the US Billboard 200 at number two. The documentary will premiere Wednesday on YouTube Music.
Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, is known for his Latin trap music style. The Puerto Rican born singer first rose to fame after being featured on Cardi B’s 2017 single “I Like it” and collaborating with Drake on “Mia.” After the release of his debut album X 100pre in 2018, he won a Latin Grammy for Best Urban Music Album.
The singer recently decided to take a break from social media, with his last post on Twitter and Instagram in May, with the caption “Bye, me fui,” which translates to “Goodbye I left.” Even though he’s been absent from social media, he has been keeping busy with recently being the first male to cover Playboy Magazine and speaking with Time Magazine about the Black Lives Matter protests following the tragic death of George Floyd.
Bad Bunny is also known for showing groundbreaking support for the LGBTQ community. In his song “Yo Perreo Sola” in English, “I Dance Alone,” the singer performed in drag and dedicated the song to those who want to dance alone and safely at the club. The singer then performed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and wore a shirt that sent a powerful message against transphobia, “They Killed Alexa, not a man in a skirt.” The shirt intended to draw the attention of the brutal killing of Alexa Negron Luciano, a homeless transgender woman in Puerto Rico.
