On Sunday, August 30 MTV hosted the annual VMAs where Megan Thee Stallion won the “Best Hip Hop” award.

Travis Barker presented Megan Thee Stallion the “Best Hip Hop” award for her popular song “Savage.” Sadly, Megan Thee Stallion didn’t perform because she was at home, and accepted the award virtually, due to the current pandemic.

She gave a video message where she thanked her loyal fans and MTV, as the elated 25-year-old rapper popped open a bottle of champaign she celebrated from her home.

“This is my second moon man, definitely not my last,” Megan Thee Stallion confidently said with a big smile on her face during her acceptance speech.

She later tweeted about how she was proud that she was representing her home town, Houston. Since Megan was the only woman nominated for this category, as well, she was representing all women. So many young girls will be able to look up to her and see how her dreams came true. This is also the third year in a row that a female rapper has won the “Best Hip Hop” award at the MTV VMAs.

She was also nominated for various other awards such as Artist of the Year, Song of the Year for “Savage,” Song of the Summer for her song with Nicki Minaj called “WAP,” and Song of the Summer for “Savage (Remix)” featuring Beyoncé.

This was a big night for Megan Thee Stallion, and we are happy that she was able to celebrate her wins from home.
