The highly anticipated Billboard Music Awards is set to air soon, and here are some details you need to know.

Like many other events, the COVID-19 pandemic has pushed back the highly awaited awards show. The show was originally set to occur at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 29 but is now set to premiere on October 14. Billboard Music Awards released a statement in March claiming that “in accordance with the current guidelines set forth by national and local health officials and in order to ensure the health and safety of our artists, fan, guests and staff- we are postponing the Billboard Music Awards.”

Last year’s show featured performances from stars including the Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Halsey, and not to forget Mariah Carey who put on a notable performance of all her biggest hits. This year’s show is scheduled to be equally as iconic despite restrictions the pandemic has placed. The award show is going to be broadcast live from The Dolby Theatre located in Los Angeles. To watch all the amazing performances, you can tune into NBC from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET.

Kelly Clarkson is set to host the award show for the third year in a row, as she announced on her Instagram. Post Malone is leading nominations with 16 across 15 different categories. Lil Nas X comes in second with 13 nominations. Billie Elish and Khalid both received 12. Additionally, Lizzo, Kacey Musgraves, Drake, The Weekend, and Shawn Mendes have received nominations.

If you thought last year’s performances were memorable, get ready for this year’s line up. Demi Lovato, Alicia Keys, BTS, Bad Bunny, En Vogue, Garth Brooks, Luke Combs, and Post Malone are all set to perform. Brooks, a 19 time Billboard Music Award winner, will also be honored as the Icon Award recipient this year.

With all the excitement surrounding the awards show, we’ll be on the edge of our seats until the fourteenth rolls around. The show has been postponed for months, but all great things are worth waiting for, and we have a feeling this year’s ceremony won’t disappoint.
