Paris Jackson drops new single “Let Down” and her first album title along with the release date.

Paris Jackson, the second child and only daughter of Michael Jackson, is a songwriter, model, actress, activist, and now singer. Jackson has released a new single and announces her upcoming album.

“Let Down” was written by Jackson, the music video was directed by Meredith Alloy and produced by Eli Roth. Her breakup inspired the song, Jackson took her heartache and turned it into a masterpiece.

Jackson describes her music as alternate folk, completely different from her father. Her aesthetic is very gory, which is something she has expressed in films and videos. The emotions fuel the song and album she felt after the breakup.

The album was created in her bedroom and polished during the pandemic. The album represents grief stages: denial, anger, bargaining, sadness, and acceptance. The last song of the album, “Another Spring,” is upbeat.

According to Entertainment Weekly, in a statement announcing the single, the young singer says, “I feel so many emotions. I’m excited, I’m nervous, mostly grateful and happy… The freedom to create, not being told what to sing and how to sing it, what to write; it’s awesome. It’s a gift, it’s a blessing.”

Many people have asked Jackson if her father would have accepted her music, causing her to respond: “I don’t know. I’m not him, so I can’t speak for him. But I hope he would be happy, and I think he would be stoked because I’m happy.”

The pandemic has affected many artists in their production rate, making their listeners miss hearing new songs. So, the singer-songwriter hopes her music can make someone feel less lonely.

Jackson signed with Republic Records. The album Wilted will be released on November 13. You can listen to ‘Lie Down’ here.
