ABC’s ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Is Back With Its’ Season 17 Premiere

ABC

Amidst a global pandemic that has rocked the country, everyone’s favorite medical drama, Grey’s Anatomy, is returning tonight for season 17.

Actress Debbie Allen, who plays Dr. Catherine Fox, directed the season’s premiere. She shared on Twitter that fans are in for a mind-blowing first episode. The premiere will be a two-hour event and right before it, fans will also get a crossover premiere event between Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 at 8/7c on ABC.

This new season will tackle the subject of COVID-19, with the show picking up during the pandemic. Filming for this season had to be adjusted after production was halted back in March. The cast and crew had to be tested multiple times a week, and actors were required to wear masks in between takes. The stars of the series are just as thrilled for watchers to see what they have been working on as the fans are.

Fans have been counting down to the premiere since the dramatic and early ending to season 16 back in April. For weeks, fans have speculated about the lives of their favorite fictional characters. Last season left viewers questioning the state of Richard’s (played by James Pickens Jr.) deteriorating health and the status of the complicated relationship between Owen, Teddy, and Koracick (played by Kevin McKidd, Kim Raver, and Greg Germann respectively). Fans also can’t wait to see what this season has in store for the main character, Meredith Grey, played by Ellen Pompeo.

Shonda Rhimes is known for creating characters and stories that envelop its viewers and bring them into Shondaland. You can catch up on all of our favorite Grey-Sloan Memorial doctors by watching all of the previous seasons on Netflix and tuning into the premiere of season 17 on ABC on November 12 at 9/8c.
