The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will travel to Santa Barbara, California later this year to visit Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

This marks the first time Prince William and Kate will travel to the United States since his brother Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as senior members of the Royal Family and moved to the United States.

The last time the public saw the two families were at the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey March 9, 2020.

Rumors of a rift between the brothers began in November 2018 after The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved out of the Kensington Palace shared by the two brothers and their families. In the documentary, Harry and Meghan: An African Journey, Prince Harry said his relationship with his brother was “on different paths” and “as brothers, you know, you have good days, you have bad days.”

However, sources say the brothers are trying to mend their relationship.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, royal expert Katie Nicholl said, “the relationship is much better than it was. For a start, they are on talking terms, and not only on talking terms, they do speak relatively regularly. They were very much in touch over the holidays.”

It is unknown if the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s trip will take place before or after Prince Harry and Meghan are expected to travel to England in June to celebrate the Trooping the Colour, Queen Elizabeth II’s official birthday celebration. The travel between the United States and the United Kingdom is subject to the COVID-19 pandemic protocols of each country.

Kensington Palace has not announced any official travel plans for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to the United States.
