Rodarte x Ciara Bravo – Collaboration Shows Lush Take on Spring Fashion

Ciara Bravo (Cherry, Big Time Rush, Red Band Society) stunned social media audiences by wearing a Rodarte fashion piece.

On January 15, Ciara Bravo posted two poised images to Instagram. Baptizing the lush and airy Spring line for Rodarte, Bravo seems to perfect posing in high-fashion.

With a streak of sunlight and shoeless, not a care in the world, Bravo states in her caption, “If we’re staying inside for another year, I’m abandoning the idea of shoes.”

Showcasing her collaboration with Rodarte, the announcement came only a day after the trailer for her new movie, Cherry, premiered.

Cherry, stars Bravo alongside Tom Holland (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home). Emily (Bravo) is Nico Walker’s (Holland) girlfriend while they meet in college. After Nico enlists in the army, Emily is bound by her love for him. As she struggles with staying in her relationship, Nico becomes reliant on drugs and robbery.

Part of the Rodarte SS21 collection, this piece, a baby-pink frock with a crimson dot detailing, embodies the pastel light aesthetics of spring. Placed in a strategic pattern, the dots on the top of the dress mimick a cloud formation.

The lower half, also covered in crimson dots, has pleats that line the waist. Choosing such light colors contrasted by the dark dots, the dress duplicates popular designs from the 1950s. Following the ‘50s style, a thick belt cinches at Bravo’s waist, creating a similar shape to the heavily desired Marilyn Monroe hour-glass figure.

A slight puff on the sleeves strikes as balancing and chic. Strategic contouring is portrayed with white sleeves and a matching collar, both sporting a black outlining that mimics the Lolita style. As stated by DevilInspired.com, “Lolita Fashion is a street fashion that originated in Japan, but is highly influenced by Victorian clothing and styles from the Rococo period.”

The collaboration behind this dress draws on the dream-like state of merging iconic trends in fashion. With ’50s femininity meeting the Lolita doll mixed chunky lines, this boldness is what seems to give Rodarte their post-alternative Indie consciousness.

Rodarte is a fashion brand created and designed by Kate and Laura Mulleavy. In 2005 these sisters built the brand in Los Angeles, California, which stemmed from the alternative fashion styles of the West Coast. The fashions range from post-anterior goth pieces to famous art-inspired ensembles, such as Vincent Van Gogh’s paintings.

The BravoxRodarte alliance provides a subtle elegance. With this collaboration, Bravo showcases her artistic attitude as well as her willingness to branch into other endeavors beyond the world of film.
