Jared Leto Will Star In New Blumhouse Film ‘Adrift’

Jared Leto and Director, Darren Aronofsky are teaming up with Blumhouse Productions to create the new film, Adrift

American actor and musician, Jared Leto will be working with director Darren Aronofsky on the film Adrift. Leto has worked with Aronofsky in the past on their award-winning film, Requiem for a Dream, released back in 2000. The film just celebrated its 20 year anniversary last year, and Leto starred as the main character, Harry Goldfarb. 

Blumhouse Productions will be working with Leto and Aronofsky to bring the film to life. Leto will be the star of Adrift, based on the story by author Koji Suzuki who also wrote the Japanese horror novel, The Ring. As reported by Deadline, “Leto identified the project and he pursued the rights for 10 years before bringing to Blum and Aronofsky.”

Adrift, a supernatural film will take place in the middle of the open sea when a boat comes across an abandoned yacht. The crew agrees to tow in the yacht only to soon realize it’s in fact a “ghost ship”.

The official Twitter account for Fandango, a streaming platform shared the news about the film that is in the works on January 28.

The announcement of the team coming together to create the new film got fans excited, as they took to Twitter with their reactions.

2021 will be a busy year for Afronsky and Leto as they have other plans in the works. Afronsky is also directing The Whale with Brandan Fraser in March. While Leto is starring in the film, The Little Things for Warner Bros, which will be hitting theaters on Friday, January 29.  

Leto posted to Twitter a two-minute trailer for his upcoming film, The Little Things back in December. Attached to the trailer he expressed his appreciation for working on the film.
