Keke Palmer received the role of Creative Director for Refinery29’s Unbothered, all while modeling as their first cover star.

At 27 years old, Keke Palmer has made a name for herself by showcasing many talents. From acting to comedy or even becoming a talk show host, Palmer has done it all. Lately, the Hustlers star has been speaking out about racial inequalities and spreading awareness on social justice issues. It is no surprise that Refinery29 has given her a role in the Unbothered community. Dawning a gorgeous Prada outfit and posing against an open field of flowers, Palmer became Unbothered’s very first cover star. She will also be their first Creative Advisor, partnering with the company to start conversations, highlight Black joy, and move the culture forward.

Refinery29 Unbothered is a community full of stories created for and by Black women. Its goal is to empower, inspire, and celebrate the beauty of all women within the Black community. Palmer—a six-time NAACP award winner and advocate—is perfect for the role.

However, it has not been easy for Palmer, who has experienced career burnout more than once. In an interview with Refinery29, she details her journey in achieving a sense of relaxation amongst her busy schedule. Palmer stated, “I’ve been burnt out many times… It’s just kinda what happens when you push yourself, and unfortunately when you’re the kind of person that I am, [someone] who takes on so much at one time.”

While balancing her career and freedom, the actress is determined to provide a joyous, safe space for Black women in her partnership with Unbothered. Her sheer determination and ambition are enough to inspire anyone.
