Tina Turner has made history as the first Black woman inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame twice. The Hall of Fame announced inductees on Wednesday, May 12, and fans are thrilled over such diverse talent. Turner will be the third woman ever to get chosen twice, joining Carole King, who entered the Hall of Fame again this year, and Stevie Nicks.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inducted Turner for the first time in 1991 for her work with then-husband Ike Turner. Finally, thirty years later, she will be recognized for her solo achievements in the performer category. The singer thanked her fans on social media for their unwavering support after all these years. After all, they did secure Turner the lead spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame fan ballot.

Turner, known as the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, has had an accomplished career, where she began as a member of Ike Turner’s Kings of Rhythm in 1957. Her career took off as a solo artist, generating hit after hit in the ’80s with songs “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” “Proud Mary,” and “Better Be Good to Me,” among many others. Turner worked exceedingly hard to establish herself as a frontwoman and paved the way for many Black artists in music.

Turner has not slowed down despite being in the spotlight after all these years. Recently, in March, HBO released a documentary titled Tinawhich gives fans an intimate look at her life and career. The documentary covers her rise to fame, personal struggles, and the intense pressure she had as arguably one of the most popular singers of the ’80s. Despite everything Turner has encountered, she shows fans that she is and always will be simply the best. Fans have taken to social media to express this long overdue induction.

Fans and the rest of the world can not wait to see Tina Turner make history as the first Black woman inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, October 30, 2021, and be broadcast on HBO. For more insight into the life and career of Tina Turner, watch the Tina documentary on HBO Max.
