Honored for Artist of the Decade during the 2021 Billboard Music Awards, Drake brought out a huge surprise for those in the audience and fans at home. The rapper’s 3 year old son Adonis, made his first award show appearance alongside his father last night and it was adorable to watch.

Adonis who was quite shy during his dad’s speech looked adorable in his award show outfit. The toddler wore a red plaid shirt, along with some black dress pants and white sneakers. Drake dressed head to toe in a grey suit and black tie looked well dressed for the award show.

Before the rapper’s speech, a video played, that looked back on his days in acting and spoke about how getting into music was a struggle. He even tackled some of the criticism he gets about “crying on every song” and the question of “does he even write his own music?” The video features older clips of the rapper and was a culmination of all the work he has put into achieving his fame today. It also features narration from friend and basketball star, Lebron James.

After the short clip, Drake and his son appear appear on stage for his speech. Adonis is seen holding the award, and clinging to his father’s side. The rapper began his speech by saying “That video was really full of a lot of confidence and vibrato, but, uh, you know the truth is, I’m bad at taking compliments.”

Continuing the speech, the rapper feeling ” so lucky and blessed,” talked about how even he himself is a little unsure of success but acknowledges that there was no real “formula” to it. He finishes his remarks by dedicating the award to his peers, and family, most notably his son, who tried to escape before his dad picked him up. While the speech was humble and heartfelt, fans of the rapper, took no time in celebrating and congratulating the rapper, with the hashtag “DrakeDecade” on Twitter.
