The CW Orders For a Re-Shoot of The ‘Powerpuff’ Pilot
The CW has announced they will rework the live-action Powerpuff pilot after garnering negative feedback across social media. Chairman & CEO Mark Pedowitz offered insight about why the more adult take on the ’90s cartoon will be re-piloted and what fans can expect.
“Sometimes things miss, and this was just a miss. But because we see enough elements in there, we’re going to give it another shot. We didn’t want to go forward with what we had,” Pedowitz stated in a conference call with TVLine.
Many were disappointed by the script that leaked on Twitter. Pedowitz explained that the pilot felt campy and that the goal was to ground it in reality. He remarked that the show concept itself “has engaged a lot of interest, and we want to get it right before we put it out.”
I know it’s been really easy for people to reject this show. But the Powerpuff Girls were a really huge part of my childhood and I still believe that this cast and this team can make this high brow concept work. They want this to work, and I’m very excited to see how it ends up! pic.twitter.com/HglZnRb3Ax

Let’s hope it will still be made in the endhttps://t.co/bDWqlw9Y4Q
Fans of The CW are hopeful that the company will be able to rework the pilot into another high-quality series that the network is known to have. The re-shoot of the series will have the same cast lineup with Dove Cameron, Chloe Bennet, and Broadway actress Yana Perrault as the iconic crime-fighting trio.
