Red Velvet’s Joy Will Release a Solo ‘Remake’ Album This Month
Park Soo-young, otherwise known as Joy, of the k-pop girl group Red Velvet, is confirmed to be releasing a solo album by the end of May. SM confirmed this with Korean news outlet Newsen, stating “Joy is preparing a remake album, and a specific schedule will be announced soon.”
This solo album comes after 7 years after Joy debuted in Red Velvet back in 2014, and makes her the second member to release a solo project after member Wendy released ‘Like Water’ earlier this past April. While this will be her first album, Joy is no stranger to solo music and projects.
Joy has taken part in Korean dramas such as the 2018 show Tempted, and playing one of the lead roles in the k-drama The Liar and his Lover. The drama also featured popular Korean actor Lee Hyun-Woo who plays a great composer (Kang Han-Kyeol), that high schooler (Yoon So-Rim) played by k-idol, Joy, falls in love with.
Joy has also contributed to multiple OSTs or Original Television Soundtracks for k-dramas including “OMG”‘ for drama show Tempted, as well as remaking Basis’ 1996 song “Introduce me good person” for Korean show Hospital Playlist which charted in the Gaon Digital Charts. Recently, the singer is featured in the song “Why isn’t love always easy” in collaboration with a Webtoons series, Romance 101.
While Red Velvet as a group has not released new group music since their 2019 album The Reve Festival Finale, fans were given some new sound from the girls as they were also featured in the 2020 film Trolls World Tour as the k-pop trolls. Although the Reveluv fandom is already anticipating a possible comeback from the group around July, nothing has officially been confirmed.

Since news of the ‘remake’ album was just released there was no other news of what songs would be featured, but with Joy’s experience and Red Velvet’s track record, the album should contribute nicely to the girls’ already impressive discography. More news should come from Joy and SM entertainment in the coming weeks.
