Actress Stephanie Beatriz Is Pregnant With Her First Child
The 99th precinct adds a new member to the team, as Brooklyn 99 actress Stephanie Beatriz announced she and her husband Brad Hoss are pregnant with their first child. Beatriz was featured in PEOPLE Magazine’s Pride issue this week and talked about her wedding, sexuality, and finding love.
On June 2, the actress took to Instagram to confirm her pregnancy with a cute picture of the happy couple. Beatriz is pictured sitting in a red dress and hand on her baby bump, with her husband next to her, looking lovingly at his wife. The caption, subtle and witty, reads “Mom and Dad (for real tho)” and highlighted the PEOPLE issue that releases on Friday. Sharing the excitement Beatriz’s In The Heights costar Leslie Grace commented saying AGHHHHH STEPH!!!!!!!!! Congratulations MAMA AND POPPA TO BE!!! That is going to be one lucky human. 🤎✨”
The actress, who identifies as bisexual, told PEOPLE magazine she first came out in college and didn’t really see herself as the type to settle down or marry; she stated saying, “I didn’t think that a committed partnership was really for me,” says the actress. “I couldn’t really see kids. It wasn’t that I was closed off to it. It was more than I couldn’t quite see how a baby fit into the life that I was building.” She went on to talk about how things changed when she was married to Hoss in 2018 and how even though married to a man doesn’t mean she’s “any less queer.” The actress first announced her sexuality to fans via Twitter back in 2016, after retweeting a post that quoted actress Aubrey Plaza reading, “I fall in love with girls and guys. I can’t help it.”

Beatriz and Hoss also talked about raising their child surrounded by the ideals of equality and raising a child that can understand the beauty in different people and backgrounds. Aside from her pregnancy, the actress can still be seen as Rosa on the hit TV show Brooklyn 99, and later this month in Lin Manuel Miranda’s movie adaption of the musical In The Heights, as salon help Carla.
