Per Popsugar, Vice President Kamala Harris recently made a trip to Atlanta where she sat down with Lana Condor and Ross Butler. The To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before costars shared why they chose to get the COVID vaccine and why being vaccinated is important.

The Vice President said, “Each of us has the power to get vaccinated and it is just so important that we remind people, don’t let anyone take your power from you… Including misinformation.” Butler reflected on how his experience with COVID-19 led him to get the vaccine. “Obviously Lana and I, we’re both vaccinated, and a big reason for me is because I actually had COVID last year in March. I had it really bad. I had all of the symptoms before we knew what the symptoms were.”

The Riverdale actor wrote on Instagram, “I personally want to be able to hang out with my friends and family and not have any worries about who we are putting at risk. Every shot matters. Every person we get vaccinated brings us closer to never having to wear a mask again. Together #WeCanDoThis.”

Condor believed that getting vaccinated would protect her and her loved ones. “My mom has an autoimmune disease, so I was just like, ‘I need to get this vaccine because I love her more than anything in this world and I want to be able to be around her safely, so I don’t give it to her or anything. And I feel so much better, being able to be around my parents and just know that they’re going to be okay.”

Vice President Harris added, “the other side of the coin of the tragedy that we learned from COVID-19, which is that you could have really hurt somebody you didn’t know and never would intentionally hurt because of the nature of the virus, that it is so transferable, it is so easy, right? And so the other side of that is, I have the power to actually stop this thing from growing by getting vaccinated.”

Condor expressed that she “…Missed friendship,” and that because she is vaccinated, she can be around Butler more because they are good friends. She explained that a benefit of being vaccinated is “…The social component.” The X-Men actress advised, “Don’t be afraid. We got this. It’s all about what you said, about how we can do better, and I think this is the next step. Don’t be afraid!” Butler added, “I had COVID, and I’m young and healthy, and it sucked. Get the vaccine.”
