Journaling is one of the best wellness tools, but only some know. It offers many benefits, especially reducing stress and discovering oneself.

According to Amy Hoyt, Ph.D., founder of Mending Trauma, “Journaling can be a great pressure-releasing valve when we feel overwhelmed or simply have a lot going on internally.”

Completing a simple journaling exercise can reduce stress. Here are three possible prompts to write in your journal:

  1. Jot down three things you’re grateful for
  2.  In six words, write the story of your life
  3.  Write three wishes you have

Journaling is a great tool for boosting physical and mental health. It can be a break from spending time on social media, a temporary escape from reality, and a helpful way to connect mind to body.

Additionally, keeping notes can be a way to process emotions. A lot of us push our emotions away or go about our day in an attempt to forget our feelings.

Journaling allows you to process your emotions in your own safe space. You can ease through these emotions and render them more manageable and less daunting through acknowledgment and acceptance.

Moreover, jotting things down can deepen one’s self-discovery. The act of writing reveals a new piece of one’s identity. In our fast-paced society, losing sight of one’s true self is easy amidst the never-ending chaos.

However, journaling serves as a vital pause, allowing us to rekindle that intimate connection with our inner selves and embark on a journey of self-discovery.

Pen in hand, we delve into our thoughts, feelings, fears, pains, and dreams. A layer of our identity, painting a clearer picture of who we truly are.

Furthermore, we find solace and clarity in the peaceful sanctuary of writing. Each word written is a step closer to understanding our desires, aspirations, and innermost thoughts.

When we have a moment of rest, our brains relax. This is a time for a pause and reflection on where we currently stand and where we aspire to be.
