Lil Nas X released a trailer Monday for his upcoming single “Industry Baby,” which will drop this Friday, July 23. The “MONTERO” rapper appears in the video, where he parodies the recent legal battle with Nike over his Satan Shoes.

The two-minute clip shows Lil Nas playing himself on trial and the judge, jury, and lawyers for both sides. But the questioning quickly shifts from the blood-soled shoes towards the rapper’s sexuality

“Ladies and gentlemen, this is much more than shoes,” says Lil Nas X as the prosecutor. “Mr. Nas X, are you gay?”

“What does this have to do with the shoes?” asks Lil Nas X, the defendant.

“I’ll rephrase the question,” says the prosecutor. “Do yo momma know you gay?”

Lil Nas replies “yes” as the trailer ends with Lil Nas getting sentenced to “five years in Montero State Prison.” It’s an ode to his No. 1 song which caused the Nike lawsuit.

Lil Nas X has proven himself to be a marketing genius with his music. As the campaign for “Industry Baby” makes moves across the internet, so does the hashtag #FreeLilNasX

The rapper began asking for “luck” over TikTok this weekend, saying that he would appear in court Monday over the Nike lawsuit. It turns out Lil Nas X was promoting the trailer all along.

As shown in the trailer, “Industry Baby” is dropping this Friday as a single for his upcoming MONTERO album. Lil Nas collaborated with big names for the single, such as rapper Jack Harlow. Kanye West and Take a Daytrip boast production credit for the song.
