SUNMI shared concept photos and title posters of her mini-album across social media platforms Twitter and Instagram, and fans cannot get enough of her unique and charming concept. Other female solo artists have been coming out with music such as “Weekend” by Taeyeon, which displayed a dream and retro fusion. As K-pop globalizes and becomes one of the most beloved forms of international music, artists are trying new themes to stand out amongst other acts. SUNMI has always been an artist who lets her creativity flow, as displayed in her previous singles “pporappippam,” “Lalalay,” and “Noir.”

Before debuting as a solo artist, SUNMI was well-known in the music industry as one of the four members of JYP’s girl group Wonder Girls. The group released stellar hits like “Tell Me,” “So Hot,” and “Nobody” that artists continue to cover in the industry. Even before the group formally disbanded in 2014, SUNMI had her solo debut with her first EP, “Full Moon,” in 2013. The group’s popularity had fizzled out by 2017 when they disbanded after nine years.

SUNMI is a force in the K-pop industry, but she will have to fight her way towards music show wins against other popular artists. August will be a month to remember with over ten groups having their own comebacks, all prepared to secure a spot on the Korean music charts. Watch out for new and upcoming releases for SUNMI’s new album.
