It’s been nearly a year since The Boyz released their last mini-album Chase in September of 2020. Now, the group is ready to tackle a new, refreshing summer concept that is sure to sweep The B—the group’s fandom name—off their feet. Since the end of their promotional period last fall, the group’s fanbase steadily increased.

After winning the survival show Road to Kingdom, the group was given a one-way ticket to participate in the following Mnet competition show Kingdom. The Boyz competed among the most well-known boy groups in K-pop: IKON, BTOB, ATEEZ, Stray Kids, and SF9. Although they had a slight upper hand at knowing the inner workings of the show, the other groups proved to be a challenge to work against. They were able to end in second place behind Stray Kids, which was still a major achievement for the group.

In addition to Kingdom, The Boyz released their official lightstick three years after their debut, released a successful full-length Japanese album Breaking Dawn, and collaborated with Universe music for their most recent single “Drink It.” Now, they are ready to come back into the K-pop scene stronger than ever. With a larger and more dedicated fanbase, the group is hoping to make a splash in August with their amusement park-themed EP called THRILL-ING. According to the group’s official schedule, they have already released concept photos and the track list for the upcoming mini-album.

There are a total of three different themes—Splash, Bang, and Kick—and their track list includes six songs: “Thrill Ride,” “Out of Control,” “Dancing Till We Drop”, “Nightmares,” “Merry Bad Ending.” and “B.O.Y (Bet On You).” With many artists releasing music in August, smaller groups are unsure of standing out amongst the crowds. The B hopes that The Boyz’s comeback will gain popularity and propel them onto Korean music charts.

The mini-album and music video will drop on August 9. Until then there are still character posters, music video teasers, and highlight medleys to be released. Watch out for any new The Boyz content on their Instagram and Twitter accounts.
