Star-Lord will now play our favorite lasagna-loving feline in the new Alcon Entertainment film.

Alcon Entertainment’s Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson are leading the new Garfield animated project. The crew includes familiar names in animation including scriptwriter David Reynolds (Finding Nemo) and director Mark Dindal (Chicken Little).

Not only is Pratt playing Garfield, but he is also playing Mario in Universal Studios’ upcoming Super Mario Bros. film alongside Anya Taylor-Joy’s Princess Peach. He seems to enjoy voicing America’s most beloved characters. Given that both of these roles were announced fairly recently, there was plenty of buzz on Twitter. Some users joked about the actor’s multiple roles in upcoming movies.

Pratt himself joined in on the conversation, sharing his success with his hardworking agent, Jason Heyman.

Garfield the Cat made his debut in 1978 under daily comic strips created by Jim Davis. The comic strips narrate the life of Garfield, as well as his owner, Jon Arbuckle, and this family dog, Odie. America’s most famous cat even holds a Guinness World Record for being the world’s most widely syndicated comic strip. This isn’t the first time Garfield has made it to the big screen; Bill Murray was the voice behind Garfield in its on-screen debut and sequel in 2004 and 2006, respectively.

The new animated film is produced by Jim Davis, Bridget McMeel, and Craig Sost. Ron’s Gone Wrong Studio and DNEG Animation are responsible for producing the movie. To stay updated on the film, or to see which iconic character he might play next, follow Chris Pratt on Twitter and Instagram.
