Kaia Gerber Will Star as Daisy Buchanan in ‘The Great Gatsby’ Table Read
Kaia Gerber is set to star as Daisy Buchanan in the table read of The Great Gatsby, hosted by Acting for a Cause to benefit AIDS research.
The model kicked her off her acting career with Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Stories earlier this year. She then ventured on to a starring role in the anthology series’ acclaimed parent show, American Horror Story, starring alongside series veterans such as Sarah Paulson and Cody Fern to bring life to a world-altering alien abductee in the second half of Double Feature.
The table reading, presented by Acting for a Cause, will be streaming live on Friday, November 19 at 9 pm EST. Proceeds from the event will benefit amFAR, the AIDS research organization.
Gerber has always been very public about her love for literature, and told Variety that “having the opportunity to play Daisy was such an honor… The Great Gatsby has always been one of my favorite books, and I always felt there were so many layers to Daisy in particular. I loved exploring those layers on a deeper level.”
The actress has been exploring those layers in great company. She will be joined in the table read by Jake Picker (Hollywood), Josephine Langford (After), Nat Wolff (Mainstream), Rivkah Reyes (School of Rock), Mason Gooding (Booksmart), and Kahyun Kim (Freaky Friday), as well as a slew of fresh-faced talents including Owen Thiele and Ty Molbak.
Every cast member will be adorned in the garb of the 1920s, styled by Dolce and Gabanna, a brand that also happens to be the core sponsor of the event. The company will match any and every donation made towards AIDS research up to $15,000.
The entire cast seems to be brimming with excitement for the charity performance. Rivkah Reyes tweeted her enthusiasm for the program on Monday.
