Camila Mendes has joined Rudy Mancuso in the new rom-com, Música. Mancuso penned the screenplay alongside Dan Lagana, who will also compose the film score and soundtrack. Mancuso is directing the project for Amazon Studios and Wonderland Sound and Vision.

Mendes took to Instagram on April 27 to announce her role in Rudy Mancuso’s rom-com. She will both star in and executive produce the film. The Riverdale actress writes that this film “hits different.” She elaborates more on her post, stating, “Stories about Brazilian culture are almost nonexistent in Hollywood, and it’s a shame because it may be the most beautiful culture in the world.”

According to the press release, “Música follows a young man (Mancuso), plagued by the music in his head, who has to come to terms with an uncertain future while balancing love, family, and Brazilian culture in Newark, New Jersey.”

Mancuso expressed his excitement for getting to work with the talented actress, revealing, “I’m beyond excited to have the wildly gifted mind of Camila join this special journey of Música. We’re telling an authentic Brazilian-American story through the eyes of a synesthete.”

Camila Mendes is a Brazilian-American actress most notably known for her role as Veronica Lodge on The CW teen drama series Riverdale. The show recently scored a seventh season.

Música will not be Mendes’ first time in a rom-com. She appeared in Palm Springs, the 2020 science fiction rom-com opposite Cristin Milioti and Andy Samberg.

We cannot wait to see this beautiful Brazilian love story come to life. Camila Mendes and Rudy Mancuso will be a dreamy pair. Fans can watch Riverdale on The CW and stream Palm Springs on Hulu.
