Doja Cat to Drop New Song ‘Vegas’ Next Week
After Doja Cat debuted the live version of Baz Luhrmann’s highly-anticipated Elvis soundtrack at Coachella, her new single “Vegas” finally has a release date.
On May 6, fans will have the opportunity to hear the song in its entirety—and it’s guaranteed to be a hit. Based on clips from her fantastic festival performances over the past two weekends, “Vegas” is reminiscent of Elvis Presley’s renowned “Hound Dog” cover and reflective of Doja’s own signature style.

Last weekend, Baz Luhrmann headed to Coachella to support three artists surrounding the film. In addition to Doja Cat, The Great Gatsby director attended the event to watch British musician Yola and gospel singer Shonka Dukureh perform.
While the “Need to Know” singer doesn’t play a role in the upcoming biopic, Yola will portray Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and Dukureh will portray Big Mama Thornton.
“The whole cast and crew of @Elvismovie are so thrilled and proud of @iamShonkaDukureh, who is playing Big Mama Thornton in the film, for her performance on stage at Coachella with @DojaCat for her new song ‘Vegas,’” Luhrmann shared in a recent Instagram post.
The musical drama Elvis is coming to theaters on June 24, but the film’s companion album may come sooner. RCA Records, Elvis Presley’s long-time label, revealed that the Elvis Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is dropping this summer. Given the drama’s rapidly approaching release date, it sounds like the soundtrack’s debut date is right around the corner.
