Christopher Walken Obtains New Role in Dune: Part Two
Arrakis is returning to our screens, and Hollywood icon Christopher Walken doesn’t want to miss out on the fun. Here’s what you need to know.
Christopher Walken has reportedly joined the cast of Dune: Part Two as the Padishah Emperor. In the Dune series, he is regarded as the leader of the universe. Walken is the latest actor to be added to this already star-studded cast, with Florence Pugh and Austin Butler signed on for the anticipated film.
Dune: Part Two picks up right where we left off as Paul Atreides’ (Timothee Chalamet) power begins to grow as rebellion ensues. Walken’s character appears to be an antagonistic force as he sends Paul on a doomed journey to take over the planet of Arrakis.
Screenwriter and director Denis Villeneuve threw fans a bone with some teasing words regarding what we can expect from the second film. “It’s going to be another beautiful journey in the desert again,” he confesses. “It’s the journey where Paul Atreides and his mother, Lady Jessica, make contact with the Fremen culture and meet with the Fremen. It’s Paul’s journey against the enemy. It’s a movie that will be more cinematic.”
The news of Walken’s casting left fans stunned, to say the least. Nevertheless, they were excited. After all, the Astoria native has plenty of award-winning performances under his belt, such as The Deer Hunter and Catch Me If You Can.
