Shawn Mendes Pauses His ‘Wonder: The World Tour’ to Focus On His Mental Health
Shawn Mendes shared an Instagram post announcing that he would be postponing the next three weeks of his “Wonder: The World Tour” so he can focus on his mental health. On Friday, July 8, the Canadian singer made a lengthy post describing his situation and that he will postpone the U.S tour dates so he can “heal and take care” of himself.
The “Wonder” singer kicked off his tour on June 27 in Portland, Oregon. Mendes confessed to “have hit a breaking point” with the compact scheduled tour dates of more than 80 shows through North America into Europe until 2023. The 23-year-old consulted with his team and mental health professionals who advised him to “take some to heal and take care of myself and my mental health.”
Shawn Mendes opened up about the pressure as a singer by writing, “After a few years off the road, I felt like I was ready to dive back in, but that decision was premature and unfortunately the toll of the road and the pressure has caught up to me and I’ve hit a breaking point.” As of now, his next show is scheduled for July 31 in his hometown, Toronto, Canada. Mendes concluded, “As soon as there are more updates I promise I will let you know.”
Fans are worried because this is not the first time Mendes has shown his struggles with the pressure and overwhelming schedule. In April, the pop singer shared about his mental health by tweeting, “The truth is i’m overwhelmed and overstimulated.”
