Shawn Mendes prioritizes his health by canceling the remainder of his tour. Earlier today, the Canadian “In My Blood” singer released a heartfelt statement on both Twitter and Instagram announcing his decision to cancel his “Wonder: The World Tour.”

Mendes wrote, “I unfortunately, have to cancel the rest of the tour dates in North America, and the UK/Europe.” He continued, “We were hopeful that I might be able to pick up with the rest of the dates after some much needed time off, but at this time I have to put my health as my first priority.”

The “Wonder” singer previously expressed his mental health issues. A few weeks ago, Mendes decided to postpone his tour dates, hoping to be able to make it back to his fans. On July 8, Mendes posted a similar post announcing the tour’s postponement.

He stated, “This breaks my heart to have to say this, but unfortunately I’m going to have to postpone the next three weeks of shows through Uncasville, CT until further notice.” Citing issues with mental health, Mendes added, “After speaking with my team and health professionals, I need to take some time to heal and take care of myself and my mental health, first and foremost.”

Although fans were disheartened by the inability to watch their favorite singer perform, they shared their support for Mendes on social media.

Many are calling for people to realize the stigma that surrounding mental health issues and the toll they take on a person’s overall health. One user wrote, “…can we start supporting mental health and begin to break down toxic male standards now?”

Mendes promises fans that he won’t disappear despite this mental health break. He is still planning on releasing new music and returning back to the stage once he heals. Mendes wrote, “This doesn’t mean I won’t be making new music, and I can’t wait to see you on tour in the future.”
