Weyes Blood Announces New Album And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow
It is an excellent day to be a fan of Weyes Blood. The “Andromeda” singer announced a new record, tour, and song all in one day. Natalie Mering, who performs under the stage name Weyes Blood, shared her first taste of new music since the 2019 release of her fourth studio album, Titanic Rising.
On September 12, the singer took to Instagram to unveil the first single: “It’s Not Just Me, It’s Everybody.” She revealed, “And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow is out November 18th on Sub Pop. The second in a trilogy, this dystopian romance novel took a lot of dark juice to birth. Forged in fire as they say.”
The singer wrote a letter to fans expressing the meaning behind And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow. She mentioned that the first of the series, Titanic Rising, focused on “impending doom” while the second installment will expand upon the uncertainty in the world. The record will symbolize “feeling around in the dark for meaning in a time of instability and irrevocable change. Looking for embers where fire used to be. Seeking freedom from algorithms and a destiny of repetitive loops.”
The lead single is described as a “Buddhist anthem.” She then mentions, “This breeds a new level of isolation. The promise we can buy our way out of that emptiness offers little comfort in the face of fear we all now live with — the fear of becoming obsolete.”
Weyes Blood’s new record, And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow will arrive on November 18. Be sure to secure tickets to one of her shows and her video for the lead single “It’s Not Just Me, It’s Everybody” is available to watch below.
