Rodarte, the California-based fashion brand founded by sister duo Kate and Laura Mulleavy, has shared a stunning collection in honor of the late Tom Petty. The sisters have teamed up with musicians Arrow de Wilde, Japanese Breakfast, Joanna Newsom, Kilo Kish, King Princess, Tweaks, Weyes Blood, and Gabbriette to help model the collection.

Petty’s daughters, Annakim Violette and Adria Petty, asked the sisters to dream up a magical collection in honor of their father’s 1994 masterpiece, Wildflowers. The Mulleavy sisters have a special connection to Petty’s music, revealing that their very first concert had been Petty’s Wildflowers tour in the 90s. Laura tells Vogue, “I credit my dad for introducing us to something that we’ll never forget, which became a huge part of our musical tastes.” Kate adds, “I mean, I still have the ticket stub!”

Petty’s daughters are feeling the nostalgia themselves, never imagining that their favorite designers would be paying homage to their father. Annakim tells Brooklyn Vegan, “This collection has that 60’s feeling our dad loved so much and it is incredible watching designers so good at their craft creating art inspired by our father’s music.” She adds that the collection “just feels like Wildflowers sounds.”

Adria adds, “This is a passion project inspired by my sister and it is a really loving tribute to our dad. We love this collection because it is joyful and is a great opportunity for us to give back to the emerging music community.”

Musicians and fellow fans of Tom Petty have shared how special the moment is to commemorate such a beautiful album and songwriter by making it fashionable.

King Princess writes in her post that she got to play Petty’s guitar, a huge honor for the Brooklyn-born star.

The Mulleavy sisters have created something truly magical. For fans of Petty or Spring fashion, be sure to head to Rodarte’s website to get your hands on some of these beautiful pieces.
