In the trailer, Guillermo del Toro tells viewers to imagine their minds as a cabinet filled with “your darkest thoughts and deepest fears.” He asks, “What would happen if you open that cabinet for the world to see?” Ominously, he claims that audiences are about to find out.
The anthology series will showcase astounding knife-twisting visuals and screenplays that horrify viewers into insomnia. The trailer reveals elements of body horror, unique monster designs, and disturbing gore. The series will be divided into eight chilling episodes. Each episode features unique individual titles, such as “Graveyard Rats,” “Dreams in the Witch House,” “The Autopsy,” and many more. Most of the episodes will be based on existing short stories. However, the man himself, Guillermo del Toro, will also be writing two completely original episodes.

Cabinet of Curiosities will feature Rupert Grint (Harry Potter), who fans believe is entering his cinematic era due to his appearances in M. Night Shyamalan’s, The Servant, and his new film, Knock at The Cabin. Essie Davis (The Babadook), Andrew Lincoln (The Walking Dead), and Tim Blake Nelson (Watchmen) are some of the many actors that will also be starring in Cabinet of Curiosities. Eric André fans were pleasantly surprised by his appearance in the Netflix trailer.
I love Rupert Grint in his horror cinema era.✨

There are also notable directors collaborating on the series. One of these directors is Jenifer Kent, known for her work in The Babadook and her deeply disturbing film, The Nightingale. The Nightingale received critical acclaim winning 25 awards and 37 nominations for depicting trauma and revenge perfectly on screen. In the horror series, she will be directing Guillermo del Toro’s “The Murmuring,” starring The Walking Dead star Andre Lincoln.
In addition, David Prior will be joining the directing team. He first debuted his feature film, The Empty Man, in 2020. Although it flopped at the box office due to poor marketing, the film gained notoriety on streaming services, praised for its unique cryptic visuals and storytelling. The skeleton imagery from The Empty Man is reminiscent of the Cthulu-looking statue in the trailer. Prior will be directing “The Autopsy,” based on Micheal Shea’s sci-fi horror book, “Polyphemus.”

Furthermore, Catherine Hardwicke, the director of Twilight, is also working on the series. She will be directing the H.P. Lovecraft-inspired “Dreams in the Witch House” alongside actors Rupert Grint and Ismael Cruz Cordova.
These are just some of the many directors who will display their cinematic talents in the Netflix series.
Renowned horror writer, Stephen King, took to Twitter to elevate the hype of the already anticipated series. He wishes a happy birthday to the “one and only Guillermo del Toro” and proclaims, “We get the present—almost time to open the Cabinet of Curiosities on Netflix!”
