Save your family or save humanity. Make your choice. M. Night Shyamalan reveals his next mind-twisting film Knock At The Cabin, starring Dave Bautista, Jonathan Groff, and Rupert Grint.

The trailer opens with an ecstatic family driving into the wilderness. Two fathers and their young daughter huddle in a cabin in the middle of nowhere, expecting nothing but a pleasant vacation. Dave Bautista’s character, Leonard, reveals “The four of us are here to prevent the apocalypse.”

“Your family has been chosen to make a horrible decision. If you fail to choose, the world will end,” He explains as shocked expressions paint the faces of the family.

Guardians of The Galaxy star Dave Bautista will embody the role of Leonard, the leader of this mysterious armed squad. Broadway star, Jonathan Groff and English Actor Ben Aldridge, will act as the fathers of their child. Kristen Ciu enters the scene in her film debut as the couple’s daughter. The cast of home invaders includes Nikki Amuka-Bird (Persuasion), Rupert Grint (Harry Potter), and Abby Quinn (Torn Hearts).

While fans race to watch Shyamalan’s cryptic and mesmerizing trailer, Elijah Wood (Lord Of the Rings) took to Twitter to express his excitement.

Knock at the Cabin is an adaptation of Paul Tremblay’s gripping novel, “The Cabin at the End of the World.” Tremblay is known to deliver psychological thrillers and horror novels that have even scared “the living hell” out of Stephen King himself.

The trailer has led many audiences intrigued by the book’s apocalyptic concept, making fans dive into its transfixing pages.

The author of the novel declares how excited he is about the film’s production and how unreal this experience has been for him. In a Boston Globe interview, Tremblay discloses his feelings about the book coming to life in the trailer. He details, “To hear lines from the book coming out of [actor] Dave Bautista’s mouth, it’s very exciting and it looks like it’s been shot beautifully. I think it’s going to be a super intense, beautifully shot film.”

Tremblay also reveals that he was able to look at the film’s production behind the scenes. He claims “M. Night let me watch him work, really closely.” During his two-day visit, he was able to meet with the actors of the film, and to his surprise, they had all read his novel. He was able to bring a hardcover copy of his novel and had all the actors and Shyamalan sign it.

If the film is anything like the novel, it will be just as nightmarish and gory, filled with disturbing imagery that will lead you to the unknown crevices of your mind.

The trailer has created suspense and tension for audiences, making for an intriguing marketing spectacle. The clip is filled with sounds of knocks. From the opening title to various scenes, the sounds of earsplitting knocks overwhelm the trailer.

An ominous teaser was also revealed of Bautista with a somber expression, sobbing amidst a green-tinted light, forced to listen to the painful screams echoing in his surroundings. He knocks at the cabin’s door, and the screen cuts to black. These details have left us with more questions than answers. But the 30-second clip showcases Shyamalan’s brilliance in creating a captivating scene.

Director Shyamalan is known for his unique filmography with never before seen narratives with twists you could only imagine. His filmography includes The Sixth Sense, Signs, and Split. He had recently released the third season of The Servant on Apple, where a mother grieves over the loss of her child with a disturbingly realistic infant doll.

Shyamalan declares that writing the screenplay for Knock at the Cabin was the “fastest script I’ve ever written. Signs would have had that title before Knock at the Cabin.” He describes both of these films as involving “movement” which led him to write the films as quickly as he did. He hopes audiences will understand the speedy momentum he felt while crafting the screenplay.

In addition, the filmmaker also decided to use ‘90s camera lenses to give the film a “bit of a throwback thriller look.” The director collaborated alongside Jarin Blaschke, who is known for his award-winning cinematography in supernatural–horror films like The Witch, The Lighthouse, and the historical action thriller, The Northman.

Knock At The Cabin reveals that Shyamalan is continuing to deliver unique film adaptations that have audiences at the edge of their seats. This new film will feature a twist on the home invasion trope and shock audiences with its high-wire tension. Knock At The Cabin will be released to theaters on February 3 of next year.
