Taylor’s recipe can be yours too, thanks to fans unearthing the love for her famous chai cookie recipe she posted years back on Tumbler. “MMMKAY — there are two ways you can go about this,” Swift stated in her original Tumblr post.

The first recipe option is super easy to whip up when you don’t have a lot of time and want something fast. Swift shared that you will only need to grab store-bought sugar cookie mix and pour a packet of chai tea into the batter before you bake, “Pow. Done.”

The second way to make the chai sugar cookies is based on her love of the vanilla sugar cookie recipe posted by Joy The Baker from The Pastry Queen cookbook, which Swift then modified with her own unique ideas to make the dessert more in line with the holiday season. Taylor added, “I added the chai element to the recipe because I thought it would infuse cozy holiday vibez into the cookie, and it really did.”

Fun fact, Taylor served these same exact chai cookies at “Secret Sessions,” private listening parties for fans during the release of her 1989 album.

To try out the recipe yourself, read below. As Taylor said, “Cause the bakers gonna bake, bake, bake, bake, bake.”

Ingredients

1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 large egg

2 teaspoons vanilla extract, or the seeds of 1 vanilla bean

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 chai tea packet

1 cup powdered sugar

1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1 tablespoon eggnog

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line the baking sheet with parchment paper or grease with butter or cooking spray.

Using a mixer, beat the butter in a large bowl on medium for about 1 minute. Add the vegetable oil, granulated sugar, powdered sugar, egg and vanilla, beating on medium speed until each ingredient is completely incorporated.

This is where Tay’s personalization comes in! Cut one chai tea packet open and empty the crushed tea leaves into the batter.

Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt using a mixer set on low.

Refrigerate the dough for 1 hour or freeze it for 15 minutes so it’s easier to handle.

Dollop 1 tablespoon of cookie dough onto the cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Press the dough evenly with your fingers or palm to 1/4-inch thickness.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before eating.

Taylor made these her own sugar cookies with her homemade eggnog icing, which is a mix of powdered sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and eggnog which you can spoon over your cookies once they’ve cooled. Taylor finished by sprinkling cinnamon on top of the cookies.
