Swift announced her tenth studio album in her acceptance speech for Video of the Year at the VMAs. Swift wrote in an Instagram story to describe the album, “Midnights, the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life, will be out October 21. Meet me at midnight.

Swift took to Instagram at midnight sharp to give devoted fans the news about her upcoming record. She began a series on TikTok, called “Midnights Mayhem with Me,” on September 21 to reveal the track titles of her Midnights album. Every other night at midnight, the musician spins a vintage-looking bingo cage to choose a ping-pong ball, labeled one through thirteen. Whichever number she pulls is the track announced in the video.

“Anti-Hero” is the first song from Midnights that Swift gave fans a bit more information about. A video was posted on her Instagram where she talks about what the song means to her. She stated “I really don’t think I’ve delved this far into my insecurities in this detail before,” and that the track is one of her favorite songs she’s ever written.

In addition, new tracks have been revealed in the past couple of days, heightening the anticipation for Midnights’ release. On October 4, Swift took to TikTok to unravel track 9 “Bejeweled.” As she made the announcement, fans caught Swift wearing an orange wool sweater Sadie had used in the All Too Well: The Short Film. This sweater made many fans suspect that the artist would be making a call back to her older songs such as “All Too Well.”

Last night, Swift revealed track 11 called “Karma,” giggling as she read the name out loud. The title reminds fans of a verse from one of Taylor’s hit singles, “Look What You Made Me Do.” In her music video she sings, “The world moves on, another day another drama, drama/ But not for me, not for me, all I think about is karma,” hinting at a possible call back for the song. But that’s not all. Swift had also stated that “Karma” will be the leading single off the album, making fans rave over its possible drop this week.

While many are ecstatic at the name drops, fans are very suspicious as to why Taylor has revealed two title tracks in a row. She hasn’t done this before with her previous Midnights tracks. It’s safe to say that Swifties will keep their eyes peeled for what the pop icon has in store for them.

Spotify has also been creating tension for the album drop through an official countdown on the artist’s Spotify account, revealing 15 days left before Midnights is released. They also released exclusive merch, including a hoodie showcasing the cover art from Swift’s new album and water bottles with the Midnights title. A Midnights ringer t-Shirt can also be purchased on Spotify’s store here.

Due to Swift’s continuous track name reveals and hints at singles possibly dropping this week, fans are at the edge of their seat with what is to come for the new album. Swifties can still pre-order the album here. Midnights will be available on all streaming services on October 21. In the meantime, Swift’s music is available on all music streaming platforms.
