On February 1, Cameron and Khalid blessed their fans with a snippet of the song posted on social media and it’s nothing short of heavenly. In the fourteen-second clip, Khalid sings, “I feel it all. Whenever you leave me, I wait for your call. You are everything I’m living for.” Then, the bass drops with Cameron’s voice blending in with Khalid’s beautifully as they harmonize, “If you go down, then we go down together. If you hold on, I might just stay forever.”
Dove Cameron is no stranger to the music industry. During her Disney days, she starred and sang the theme song for the hit kid’s series, Liv & Maddie. In addition to her portrayal of Maleficent’s daughter, Mal, in the beloved Descendants trilogy, she lent her voice to a number of songs, including “If Only” and “My Once Upon a Time.”
In 2022, Cameron launched her music career, with her hit single, “Boyfriend.” The single was teased on TikTok, a nine-second clip of Dove Cameron posing with the song in the background, and became an overnight sensation. Now, it’s been dubbed a “queer anthem,” garnering over 411 million streams on Spotify and 51 million views on YouTube. In May, the hit song climbed to No. 1 on Billboard‘s charts Emerging Artists category where it reigned for 24 weeks.

Originally, the former Disney darling had songs uploaded on streaming services and social media. She later removed them because she felt they weren’t true to herself. Essentially, she wanted a fresh start and to create authentic music. According to Cameron, songs like “Boyfriend” and “Breakfast” are based on personal life experiences.
“I was writing about what I thought people wanted to hear from me,” she told Today. She adds, “I think a lot of fans are disappointed that that music went away. But I think it’s important that they embrace this new music as my real music — because that music before was wonderful, and I stand by it, but it’s not actually me.”
“We Go Down Together” will be released on February 10. In the meantime, fans can stream Dove Cameron and Khlalid’s music on all music streaming platforms.
