Miley Cyrus Breaks New Spotify Record for Most Monthly Listeners by a Female Artist
Breaking another record, Miley Cyrus has now amassed the most Spotify monthly listeners ever for a female artist: 84 million.
Since Miley Cyrus released the lead single “Flowers” for her upcoming album Endless Summer Vacation, the singer/songwriter has enjoyed immense success that does not seem to be slowing down. Nearly two decades into her career, Cyrus has amassed the most monthly streamers for any female artist in the streaming platform’s history.

“Flowers” has become a certified hit. In the disco-and-funk-influenced pop song, Cyrus celebrates her self-reliance and independence, making it clear she does not need anyone but herself to feel complete. The song has become a self-love anthem, cementing itself in the pantheon of all-time best breakup songs.
Shortly after its release, “Flowers” topped the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Cyrus’ first number-one on Billboard since “Wrecking Ball” in 2013. In its first seven days, it had the biggest week for a song in Spotify’s history, earning over 96 million plays. The song broke this record again in the next week, earning over 115 million plays in that week alone. It became the fastest song to earn over 100 million streams in Spotify history. The success was so overwhelming that Jana Coffey, Spotify’s artist and label partnerships leader, commented. According to Variety, Coffey remarked, “Rather than seeing massive streams on day one that decline throughout the week, each day since release has been bigger than the one before.”
“Flowers” sets the stage for Cyrus’ 13-track album, Endless Summer Vacation, which will be released on March 10 of this year. The album will showcase the physical and mental growth the singer experienced in recent years.
Given the recent critical and commercial success of Cyrus’ last album, Plastic Hearts (2020), the anticipation for Endless Summer Vacation is very high. But, after seeing how “Flowers” has performed, Endless Summer Vacation will no doubt be worth the wait and much more. To pre-order the upcoming album, click here.
