With over 25,000 cases of reported glass discovered in the popular beverage, distributor Pepsico Inc. recalled over 300,000 beverages. The 13.7-ounce Starbucks Vanilla frappuccino bottles with expiration dates of March 8, May 29, June 4, and 10 of this year have been contaminated. According to the Food and Drug Administration, this concern was labeled as a Class II recall where “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

The recall began on January 28 and continues to remove these bottles from the shelves. “The removal of these products from the marketplace is currently underway. The products are not sold at Starbucks retail locations,” the FDA explained in a statement.

Pepsico Inc. is committed to its customer’s safety, revealing in a statement, “The North American Coffee Partnership is committed to a high level of quality in the products we serve. Delivering a quality experience to our consumers is our top priority and we always act with an abundance of caution whenever a potential concern is raised. If a consumer has purchased a product and has questions or concerns, they can call Consumer Relations at 1-800-211-8307.”

The North American Coffee Partnership is a collaboration between Starbucks and Pepsico inc. where it distributes cold coffee beverages. A number of drinks have been created: bottled frappuccino drinks, Double Espresso drinks, refresher beverages, iced coffee beverages, and more. Ranking number two in the world, Pepsico Inc. owns a variety of companies, such as Pepsi, Lays, and Gatorade.
