Aubrey Plaza and Jenna Ortega had both the audience and the internet laughing as they presented at this year’s SAG Awards, paying homage to their iconic dark, deadpan characters.

Plaza and Ortega walked on stage looking fierce in their formal, glittering dresses. While their wardrobe sparkled, both actresses stared blankly into the audience. As the awkward silence became palpable, neither Plaza nor Ortega gave in, holding their cold stares.

Unsure laughs slowly began to emerge and Plaza finally broke the silence, telling Ortega “I don’t know why they paired us up together.” Ortega responded, “Yeah, I know, we have nothing in common” to which Plaza suggested, “We should find the people who did this.” Ortega then joined in as the two stated, “And curse their families and watch as misfortune follows their bloodline for the next seven generations” in perfect, monotoned unison.

As the crowd erupted in laughter, Plaza affirmed their similarities stating, “Okay, I see it now.” The duo went on to present the SAG award for Best Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited series.

After their flawless presentation, in which neither cracked even the slightest smile, people immediately took to social media to commend their comedic genius. Fans of both Plaza and Ortega alike are now asking to see the two reunite for a new project.

When asked about teaming up with Ortega, Plaza told Entertainment Tonight, “I’m down. We’ll just kill everybody with our eyes.” While it is unsure whether or not this dynamic duo will ever make a return, it has definitely been a successful award season for the two actresses.

Both Plaza and Ortega were nominated for SAG awards this year for The White Lotus and Wednesday, respectively. Aubrey Plaza took home the award, along with the rest of The White Lotus cast, for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series. While Jenna Ortega did not win the SAG Award for Best Female Actor in a Comedy Series, her performance in Wednesday has received several prestigious nominations this awards season.

With plenty of exciting moments at this year’s SAG Awards, the unlikely pairing of what has now become an iconic duo was certainly a stand-out.
