The ceremony was streamed on the YouTube channel of the Hollywood Critics Association, and it is also their 6th annual awards ceremony. The event was hosted by comedian Tig Notaro, and it was held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.

During the ceremony, Nikki Fowler, Founder of Glitter Magazine and President of HCA along with Kolby Mac, presented Brendan Fraser with the award for Best Actor for his performance in The Whale, a film about an English teacher with morbid obesity who tries to revive his relationship with his daughter portrayed by Sadie Sink.

Angela Bassett won the award for Best Support Actress for her performance in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Bassett reprised her role as Queen Ramonda, the mother of King T’Challa, who she portrayed first in 2018’s Black Panther.

Others also celebrated, like Ke Huy Quan who won Best Supporting Actor for his role in Everything Everywhere All At Once. This is his comeback in Hollywood, after being inspired to get back into acting after watching the film, Crazy Rich Asians. Everything Everywhere All At Once was a big winner, and it received the most awards, with 6 in total, including Best Picture, Best Cast Ensemble, Best Director, and Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh. That film had the most nominations along with The Banshees of Inisherin.

There was also a Filmmaking Achievement Award, which was given to Rian Johnson, who recently directed Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and also previously directed the film Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Other celebrities who were present at the awards ceremony, included Kate Hudson, Madelyn Cline, Terry Crews, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It is safe to say that this is awards season, with the 29th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on February 26 and the 95th Academy Awards on March 12, with Jimmy Kimmel hosting.
