Scarlett Johansson, Owen Wilson, and More Will Be in Nancy Meyers’ New Big Budget Film
Nancy Meyers is certainly a big name in romantic comedies. She has taken a break recently from directing films. However, she’s back at it and is going big with her upcoming film, both in cast and budget.
The project is currently entitled Paris Paramount and will be on Netflix. The film centers around a director and producer that fall in love but separate. They soon reunited to work on a new film that could bring up old feelings This film has been in the works for a while. However, there has been a recent announcement of a cast. While nothing is official, the film’s stars may be Scarlett Johannsson, Owen Wilson, Penélope Cruz, and Michael Fassbender. Jennifer Lawrence was originally in talks to star, however, she dropped out of the project. That is what led to Paris Paramount eyeing Johansson. All of this talent should lead to a great movie.

Nancy Meyers has made many rom-coms featuring strong independent women. These romantic comedies include What Women Want, Something’s Gotta Give, The Holiday, and more. She has also worked on classic comedies like Private Benjamin, Father of the Bride, and The Parent Trap. Her most recent film was The Intern in 2015.

Meyers’ current project could be semi-autobiographical, as there are connections to her life. She was previously married to Charles Shyer, a director/screenwriter who often collaborated professionally. They have not collaborated since their divorce. This film just might hit close to home.

Meyers is a big name in the movie industry. It is only natural that she has a lot of pull. There have been reports that the budget will be over 100 million dollars, possibly leaning towards 130 million. Most romantic comedies are cheap and hardly ever break 100 million in the budget. That sets high expectations for the project. There have yet to be confirmations of the actual budget, but with the star cast and the great return of Meyers, this could be a costly film.

The film has quite the potential A-list cast. However, it would not be the first time some actors have worked together. Johannsson previously starred with Cruz in the romantic dramedy Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Cruz also starred alongside Wilson in the comedy Zoolander 2. In addition, Cruz also starred in The Counselor, along with Fassbender.
Johansson will be starring in Wes Anderson’s star-studded Asteroid City. She will also be in Project Artemis, a drama about the 1960s space race. Wilson’s next project is Paint, where he is a character loosely based on the famous painter Bob Ross. He will also be in The Haunted Mansion, inspired by the thrilling Disney theme park ride. Cruz is currently working on Ferrari, the story of Enzo Ferarri, the founder of Ferrari, portrayed by Adam Driver. Then there is Fassbender, who stars in the upcoming sports film Next Goal Wins, which should come out in September of this year.

Romantic comedies have certainly stood the test of time. For decades, audiences have loved watching quirky stories of people finding or refinding love. Meyers has become a master of the genre. The actors set for this film have proven their talents over the years. They should do an excellent job at bringing the romance to life. There is no set release date, but Paris Paramount will surely make it to many people’s screens.
