On The Diary of a CEO Podcast, Seth Rogen spoke about the choice of not having children and the prime of his career.

Seth Rogen (Superbad, Knocked Up, Neighbors) has made a name for himself as a comedic actor and writer. On The Diary of a CEO Podcast, Rogen spoke at length about his filmography and how he became an industry staple for his works. In doing so, he also he stated that not having children “definitely” helped him achieve this success.

Rogen and Lauren Miller have been married since 2011. Rogen was firm in his conviction that not having kids was the right choice for them.

The host of the podcast, Steven Bartlett, challenged Rogen, asking whether children could lead them to a “happier” life. Rogen disagreed noting, “I’ve been around obviously a lot of children, I’m not ignorant to what it’s like. … Everyone I know has kids.”

In addition, Rogen explained, “Some of my friends have had kids for decades. Some people want kids, some people don’t want kids.” He commented that some people have children without analyzing if it’s the best choice for them. Rogen also mentioned the pressures society puts on people to have children. His arguments resonated with many, as the ethics of raising kids has become widely debated online.

Rogen then emphasized the mutual agreement he and his wife shared on the topic of children. He stated, “Honestly, the older we get the more happy and reaffirmed we are with our choice to not have kids.” The star explained that he and Miller are enjoying their lives and work without raising children.

Fans in the Youtube comments were glad to hear Rogen speak openly on the issue. However, it also brought to light a double standard for some people on TikTok.

Some fans noted that when a woman speaks out about not having children she is often vilified. When men share their thoughts, they are met with understanding or are sometimes regarded as cool “bachelors.”

Having children should be a decision that people can make without fear of backlash. Rogen’s honesty on the issue helps to normalize this conversation and help fight gender stereotypes. The full podcast is available to listen to here.
