Nearly a decade after the release of “Heart Attack,” Demi Lovato revealed she will release a rock version of the song this Friday, March 24.

On March 20, Demi Lovato went to Instagram to reveal the exciting re-release. In her post, she shared a video featuring a short guitar snippet of the song. The video begins by showing the original single’s cover art in a new black-and-white coloring. As the music starts, the cover art reverts to its original color. In the second slide, she included a photo of herself recording the song in the studio. In the caption, she wrote, “Heart Attack, but make it Rock. 3.24.”

When “Heart Attack” was released in 2013, it was an electropop and power pop song. The song was wildly popular, peaking in the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 10. It quickly became a fan favorite for its catchiness and biting, vulnerable lyrics. Since its release in 2013, Lovato has consistently performed it on tour and at other live performances.

Lovato’s decision to re-release “Heart Attack” as a rock song aligns with her current musical style. A lot can change in a decade, and her shift from pop to rock is one of them. Her previous album, Holy Fvck (2022), marked her nearly decade-and-a-half return to the pop-rock sound that defined her first two albums: Don’t Forget (2008) and Here We Go Again (2009).

Fans quickly took to Twitter to share their excitement.

Since Holy Fvck (2022), the “Skin of My Teeth” singer has released a new song for the Scream VI (2023) film soundtrack: “Still Alive.” The single, of course, aligned with the sound of her last album and only doubled down on how well she sounded with the genre. Lovato has also released a music video for the single.

Given her recent releases, we are sure the new “Heart Attack” will not disappoint. It seems that Lovato has found her sound, and we are excited to hear it applied to her previous songs. For more exciting Lovatic-centric news, click here.
