Demi Lovato joins the iconic Scream franchise with a brand new single, “Still Alive,” intended for Scream VI.

This past February 15, the 30-year-old singer/songwriter took to Twitter to announce the exciting news.

Lovato ominously asked her fans, “What’s your favorite scary movie?” before sharing the song title and release date, March 3 of this year. In the tweet, Lovato shares spooky cover art for the single. In the photo, Lovato looks directly at the camera while holding a knife to her face, and Ghostface can be seen in the blade’s reflection.

Lovato did not stop there, later sharing a phone number her fans could call to hear a snippet.

After dialing, Ghostface answers and remarks, “Hello, Lovatic. Do you like scary movies? What about your favorite artist’s song in a scary movie? Let me give you something to sink your teeth in.” Afterward, a little bit of “Still Alive” can be heard. The snippet begins with Lovato softly singing, “Still alive/ I don’t wanna just survive” before the music builds, and Lovato declares, “Give me something to sink all my teeth in/ Eat the devil and spit out my demons/ Still alive.”

“Still Alive” marks the performer’s first musical release since her last album Holy Fvck (2022). The album marked Lovato’s return to the pop-rock genre that defined her first two albums, Don’t Forget (2008) and Here We Go Again (2009). In the snippet, Lovato seems to be continuing her foray into the genre.

Lovatics took to Twitter to share their excitement.

Scream VI will be officially released this March 3, along with “Still Alive.” It will be the first film in the franchise without Neve Campbell reprising her role as Sidney Prescott. Among those returning include Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barerra, Courtney Cox, and Hayden Panettiere. The film will follow Ortega’s and Barerra’s sister duo leaving Woodsboro behind for a fresh start in New York City, where, unfortunately, a new Ghostface will plague their lives. Cox will reprise her role as reporter Gale Weathers, and Panettiere will return to play Kirby Reed. While Cox has appeared in every Scream film, Panettiere has only appeared in Scream IV (2011).

If the film is going to be anything like the little snippet heard, then fans are in for an exciting ride. For more information regarding Scream VI, click here. And while fans await the film, they can watch the trailer below.
