Taylor Momsen Returns to the Upper East Side in New Photos
Hey Upper East Siders, it looks like we have another nostalgic post for you, courtesy of Little J. Taylor Momsen, known for her role as Jenny Humphrey in the CW’s hit series Gossip Girl returned to New York City and gave fans a blast, from the past.
The actress-turned-musician took a picture on the steps of the MET, one of the iconic locations featured in the series, and simply captioned the post, “This picture feels familiar….”
Immediately, the post garnered the likes of OG Gossip Girl fans everywhere and also commenting the infamous “XOXO” sign-off. Most notable was Kelly Rutherford, who portrayed Lilly Van der Woodsen (Rhodes, Bass, and Humphrey), in which she commented three black hearts.
While the steps feel familiar to Momsen, she is sporting a new look, much different than what we saw when we were first introduced to Jenny. In seasons one and two, she had a soft and dainty look, similar to Blair Waldorf when Jenny was training to be Blair’s minion.
Later on, in season three, Jenny ditched the headbands and flats for black eyeliner and leather jackets as she embraced her punk-rock era. This sudden change occurred as Momsen began to find herself and dive into her music career.
She left Gossip Girl at the end of season three after she asked to be written off the series to focus on music. Jenny’s main character arc ended after Blair banished her from the Upper East Side when Jenny and Chuck Bass got together.
Throughout the next few seasons, Momsen occasionally reprised her role as Jenny and made her final appearance at Dan and Serena’s wedding in the last episode, where the writers revealed that Jenny made amends with Blair and was now a fashion designer with Waldorf Designs.
Since her Gossip Girl days, Momsen has found much success as the lead singer and guitarist of The Pretty Reckless, an American rock band established in 2009. Momsen did not return for a guest appearance in the 2021 Gossip Girl reboot. Unfortunately, after the recent cancellation of the series, there is likely no chance of seeing a modern-day Jenny Humphrey on our screens anytime soon. So, these photos will have to do for now.
To relive all of the early 2000’s nostalgia, check out the original Gossip Girl, only on HBO Max.
