Sophie Nélisse Reveals the Harry Styles Song That Got Her Through New Yellowjackets Episode
Yellowjackets breakout star Sophie Nélisse revealed her “Rough Day at the Office” playlist, which helps the talented actress prepare for sad scenes.
For fans of the psychological drama, Yellowjackets, season 2 episode 6 titled “Qui” left audiences reeling after witnessing Shauna’s (Sophie Nélisse) devastating moments giving birth in the wilderness. Nélisse expressed sheer panic after reading the script. She states, “I remember sitting with director Liz Garbus. I just remember looking up from my script and I started sobbing. I was like ‘I’m not good enough for this, I can’t do it.'”
Despite feeling anxious, the actress thoroughly prepared for the emotional episode. Director Liz Garbus sat with Nélisse and watched YouTube videos, talked to women about their childbirth experiences, and even watched clips from The Handmaid’s Tale, a series that Garbus also directed.

The episode was loaded with tragic moments, and she prepared herself even further with her music playlist. She reveals, “I was listening to, for some reason, ‘Fine Line’ by Harry Styles. It wrecks me. I don’t know why it gets me, but I have a whole playlist of sad songs, it’s called “Rough Day at the Office.” From week to week it will change, but for some reason, ‘Fine Line’ gets to me.”
Fine Line is the second studio album from Harry Styles. It was released in 2019 and contained hit songs “Adore You,” “Watermelon Sugar,” “Falling,” and others.
Yellowjackets‘ “Qui” episode is heavily focused on Shauna’s trauma. Melanie Lynskey, who portrays the adult version of Shauna, is also mesmerizing in this episode. Lynskey delivered praise to her co-star, writing, “Emotion just spills from her in the most truthful and profound way. She’s talented beyond her years and talented beyond all our years! I love you SO MUCH.”
She ends on a touching note, adding, “Please be proud, I know it’s hard for you, but you did something great. She’s supported so beautifully by the rest of our insanely talented cast.”
Congratulations to Sophie Nélisse and Melanie Lynskey on their powerful performances. Yellowjackets can be streamed on Showtime.
