The First Look at Bridgerton Season Three
The long-awaited third season of the Netflix regency romance Bridgerton just got its first look, and we’re swooning with excitement.
Fans have received their first look at the third season of Netflix’s original series Bridgerton. Netflix hosted its third Tudum event last month in São Paulo, Brazil. The event, which premiered live on Youtube, included a diverse cast of Netflix actors. The stars shared updates and sneak previews of some of Netflix’s original series and films.
Bridgerton actress Nicola Coughlan, who acts as season three lead Penelope Featherington, shared four new images taken from the upcoming season. Announced in May 2022, the third installment of Netflix’s record-breaking romance will follow Colin Bridgerton, portrayed by Luke Newton, the third son of the Bridgerton clan. Starring as Colin’s co-lead is the third daughter of fellow Ton family, Penelope Featherington. At the end of the first season, Penelope is revealed to be the infamous Lady Whistledown, author of a gossip column about London’s high society.

When Netflix last left off with the two romantic leads, Colin exposed Penelope’s cousin’s pyramid scheme. In doing so, Colin saved Penelope’s family from utter ruin. After a dance epitomizing false hope at her family’s ball, Colin is asked by his peers if he is courting Penelope. He announces that he wouldn’t dream of it, and Penelope overhears his disparaging comment. This followed a friendship-ruining argument with her best friend Eloise, Colin’s sister.
With the man she’s in love with wholly uninterested, and her closest friendship in tatters, Penelope’s future is a mystery until season three premieres.
In July 2022, the official Bridgerton Instagram account gave fans a sneak peek of the upcoming season. The clip announced the beginning of filming and featured some of the cast’s new looks and glow-ups.
Last September, Netflix held a smaller-scale Tudum event which included a short Bridgerton segment. Here, Netflix revealed the name of the first episode of season three: “Out of the Shadows.” Shondaland, Shonda Rhimes’s producing company behind Bridgerton, revealed some key plot points that will play out in the third season. They divulged, “[Penelope] becomes more determined than ever to find a husband. As we know, Pen values her independence, and marriage will afford her the liberty to keep up her ruse as Lady Whistledown — and get as far away from her mother and sisters as possible.”
Additionally, the company was revealed that Colin returns to London with a new look and swagger after traveling the world. According to Shondaland, Penelope “couldn’t care less.” Colin, totally guilt-ridden after disparaging Penelope to fellow bachelors of the Ton, offers to help her find a husband. His coaching, however, “works a little too well.” Colin’s feelings become complicated and he must face up to whether they are friendly or “far more fervent.”
