Bebe Rexha took to her story on Instagram to denounce her boyfriend, Keyan Safyari, for criticizing her weight gain.

In an unexpected move, Rexha shared a screenshot of an alleged text conversation between her and Safyari. The photo revealed a troubling exchange.

The text exchange revealed Safyari’s attempt to be “honest” about Bebe’s changing appearance. He cited her appearance changes as the reason for his comments.

The text read, “I always said I would be honest with you and your face was changing so I told you it was. . . that was the conversation we were having and you asked.”

Rexha sharing the texts and exchange with Safyari made headlines.

However, the choice of words and general tone of the message were far from encouraging. The text pointed out that Rexha gained 35 pounds, and implied that her weight gain was an issue.

Safyari stated, “Should I pretend it didn’t happen and that it’s ok? Come on I gain 3 pounds and you call me chubbs and fat. Doesn’t mean you don’t love me.”

This is not the first time Rexha has dealt with body image issues, either.

In May, she bravely opened up about her polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS diagnosis). PCOS is a hormonal disorder that can lead to weight gain. Rexha candidly revealed that she had quickly gained over 30 pounds because of the condition.

Fans rallied around Rexha, showing their support and admiration for her honesty and resilience. While it is unclear if the couple has split, her message is loud and clear that body shaming has no place in a relationship.

Her recent story on Instagram was meant to address a broader issue beyond her boyfriend’s alleged remarks: the impact of body shaming on people’s mental health. Rexha’s vulnerability and honesty remind her fans that body image issues can affect anyone, including those with a larger public platform.

Rexha reminds the public that it is essential to remember that one’s appearance should not be open for discussion or judgment. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, and promoting a diverse, inclusive vision of beauty is essential to building a healthier and happier society. Her powerful stance sends a clear message to all: focus on support and encouragement rather than tearing each other down with hurtful comments.
