Mattel has launched a brand new doll inspired by Kate McKinnon’s character, Weird Barbie, in the popular Barbie movie.

Although Barbie has only been in theaters for a couple weeks, fans of the film are eager to keep living out their Barbie dreams with their very own Kate McKinnon Weird Barbie. The official Barbie account took to Instagram on Friday to announce the release of their newest doll from the hit movie. The post included a series of photos of the company’s latest creation, along with a caption that notes that it is “time to get weird.”

The doll will be manufactured and produced by Mattel, which has been the toy company responsible for all things 'Barbie' related. The doll itself has a funky blonde hairstyle, various colorful markings on its hair and face, and an unconventional outfit adorned with random spots and designs. In addition, each of the doll's limbs are flexible enough to be bent into various poses.

Since the release of the film on July 21, Mattel has released a variety of products, including apparel, toys, decor, and mugs. Various dolls dressed as characters from the film are available for purchase on Mattel Creation’s official site, including Issa Rae’s President Barbie. McKinnon’s Weird Barbie is currently available for preorder until August 18 and retails for $50. According to Mattel, the doll is expected to ship on or before May 31, 2024.

McKinnon spoke with Entertainment Weekly where she revealed that she did not actually have to do the splits while filming one of her iconic scenes as Weird Barbie. Instead, production designer Sarah Greenwood utilized fake legs and cut holes in the wall to show Weird Barbie's flexibility. Luckily, Greenwood's clever tactics proved to be successful during the seamless scene.
