Angus Cloud’s Mother, Loved Ones Share New Addiction Struggles
Angus Cloud’s mother revealed the Euphoria actor’s last words to her before he died of an accidental overdose at 25. The Euphoria star died of acute intoxication from combinations of cocaine, fentanyl, and other drugs.
Trigger Warning: This story mentions death, suicide, and mental health.
Lisa Cloud spoke to her son one last time before going to bed, she revealed to People in an interview published Tuesday.
“I love you, mama. You’re the best, he said before hugging her. “I’ll see you in the morning.”
The following morning, Lisa found her son slumped over his bedroom desk in their Oakland, California home. Although, it is not uncommon for him to fall asleep in his chair during his art sessions. Lisa went to approach her son to say good morning and noticed something was off as he gave no response.
“I started shaking him and screaming,” the mom recalled that morning. She told the outlet. “I pushed him hard, and he fell on the floor. She adds I tried to resuscitate him mouth to mouth, and I was compressing him.”
The late Euphoria actor, who portrayed Fezco for the first two seasons of the hit HBO series, suffered from mental health and addiction. He passed away days after saying goodbye to his dad, Conor Hickey.
According to his mother, Cloud’s passing was attributed to depressants. “Everything just slowed down, and eventually, his heart stopped, and he went to sleep. But he didn’t kill himself,” she stated.
Sam Levinson, creator of Euphoria, noticed Cloud wasn’t himself on set and wanted to offer the late actor help. According to Levinson, he looked into Angus’s eyes and knew he wasn’t well. “At the same time, I’ve been in these situations before where you’re trying to get someone clean,” stated Levinson.
According to Variety, Zendaya, who plays Rue on Euphoria, describes her costar and friend as the most unique and pure-hearted person she’s ever met.
She shared a moving caption mourning the loss of her friend and costar as she described the type of person he was in a black-and-white photo back in August.
She wrote, “Words are not enough to describe the infinite beauty that is Angus (Conor). I’m grateful I got the chance to know him in this life, to call him a brother, to see his warm kind eyes and bright smile, or hear his infectious cackle of a laugh (I’m smiling now just thinking of it.).”
