Guinness World Records Deems Madonna as the New Biggest-Selling Female Recording Artist of All Time
Reigning pop sensation, Madonna, has earned another crown from Guinness World Records this Wednesday.
The superstar was recognized by Guinness World Records, as the biggest-selling female recording artist, with over 400 million records sold during her four-decade career.
Madonna has held the record since 2009, leaving Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Taylor Swift, and Beyoncé chasing her records.
This month, Madonna took the stage, launching her Celebration Tour at London’s O2 Arena.
In a heartwarming moment, she gave a shoutout to her daughter Lourdes, who celebrated her 27th birthday on her mother’s opening night. The star’s other kids, David, 18, Mercy, 17, plus the twins, Stella and Estere, 11, lit up the stage alongside their mother.
The show had its wild moments from topless dancers, to quick costume changes, to wild stunts. Then, in a heartfelt moment, Madonna paid her respects to those who have passed from AIDS, including her friend, the artist Keith Haring, by singing “Live to Tell.”
Madonna put on an incredible show last night. She said she wasn't feeling well. It's hard not to wonder if she's really not well though, pushing through with the tour so soon after her illness. I hope she and her business people are taking good care of her. pic.twitter.com/FtboL4oqwD

During her most recent concert in Antwerp, Belgium, on October 22, Madonna shared, “I didn’t think I was gonna make it. Neither did my doctors. That’s why I woke up with all of my children sitting around me. I forgot five years of my life or my death, I don’t really know where I was.” But the angels were protecting me, and my children were there. And my children always save me every time.”
“If you want to know my secret and you want to know how I pulled through and survived, I thought, I have to be there for my children. I have to survive for them,” she continued.
“I must tell you, I don’t feel really well right now, but I can’t complain ‘cause I’m alive,” stated the pop icon. “Thank God for my children and all of you for your love and support, I really appreciate it,” she added.
The icon’s London show marks the grand kick-off of her global tour with 78 shows. The Celebration Tour will go all the way from Europe to North America, before closing in New York City by April 2024.
